Happie Birthday!
My little cousin's birthday just passed and she turned 7.
I called her on the phone... and i decided to play a little prank on her..
She: HELLO!
me: hello. (The uncle kinda hello.)
She: AH heng GOR GOR!
me: AH heng gor gor? I am policeman. I want to catch you.
She: .......
me: What is your name?
She: ... Don't want to tell you.
me: You sure you don't want to tell me? I will also catch your mama, papa, meimei and didi.
She: ..... don't tell you.
me: I heard today is your birthday. So i can catch u already (i also don't know what is the link)
She: No.. not my birthday... (wat kids will do to get out of trouble)
me: (Can sense that she is starting to feel a bit stressed.) I am ah heng gor gor la.
She: HAIYA! u think i dun know it's you meh?
me: As if lo. You nearly cried rite?
She: No... Wat time you off from work? Can bring me go buy cake?
So after my work, went back home to get my car and drove to pick her up to go cake shopping. Went to almost every cake shops in Tamp central. Looked at ALL the cakes in the display fridge. And i think everyone was staring at me... not that i am young. But i am still relatively young to have such a big kid. Finally settled on one with a tweety bird and ultraman toy stuck into the cake.
She: I dun like that cake.. cos got ultraman.
me: (starting to get impatient) Just take out the ultraman la. I like ley. Can give me?
She: OKie lo. (finally.. phew...)
On the way back to her house, i asked her what is her birthday wish. APparently she doesn't know what is a birthday wish. So i have to explain to her.
Me: Birthday wish is what you want. Like.. i want to get all correct for spelling. I want to grow taller etc.
She: I KNOW I KNOW. My birthday wish is I WANT TO BECOME MORE BEAUTIFUL!
me: -_-'''... you are already so beautiful.
She: I want MORE!
me:........
Had a mini party at her place. And hope she had a nice 7 years old birthday.
I bet i will spoil my children next time.

4.Begin in a friendly way
5.Get the other person saying "yes, yes." immediately.
6.Let the other person do a great deal of the talking.
7.Let the other person feel that the idea is his or her.

The POwer of Smile.. :)
" Whenever you go out of doors, draw the chin in, carry the crown of the head high, and fill the lungs to the utmost; drink in the sunshine; greet your friends with a smile , and put soul into every handclasp. Do not fear being misunderstood and do not waste a minute thinking about your enemies. Try to fix firmly in your mind what you would like to do; amd then, without veering off direction, you will move straight to the goal. Keep your mind on the great and splendid things you would like to do, and then, as the days go gliding away, you will find yourself unconsciously seizing upon the opportunities that are required for the fulfillment of your desire, just as the coral insect takes from the running tide the element it needs. Picture in your mind the able, earnest, useful person you desire to be, and the thought you hold is hourlytranforming you into that particular individual... Thought is supreme. Preserve a right mental attitude- the attitude of courage, frankness, and good cheer. To think rightly is to create. All things come through desire and every sincere prayer is answered. We become like that on which our hearts are fixed. Carry your chin in and the crown of your head high. We are god in the chrysalis."

Are you insured?
Once you start working, insurance agents from all around will start to flock to you. Just like how flies to shit.. eh.. sounds wrong... better analogy would be bees to honey.. much better.
I just can't stand the way they talk to you over the phone. Act friendly until my hair can stand. Aiyoh. Especially when he is your friend, the acquaintance kind. Call and talk to you about things which you are not even interested.
"Hey justin.. how's life? It has been a while since i talked to you man. (when reservist just ended a few weeks ago and I have already talked to him) How about a dinner to catch up ? (what's there to catch up?)
"Hey Justin.. Do you have any policies? I just started work as a financial planner. Tot of asking you out to learn about your policies? (This is a good one la.. but i am not stupid)"
"Hey Justin.. I will be in tampines these few days.. Can meet for dinner... ANyway it's my birthday today.. (Who cares rite? even when you are a female..) "
Sometimes you just have to give face to friends when they ask you out for dinner and you know they are selling policies. You just have to give them face. But they always assume you want to buy from them after the dinner.
One week after the dinner... " Hey justin.. Can we meet tomorrow evening for dinner? So that i can prepare your case. (WHo says i want to buy? i didn't say!)
So my reply is always " Hey ******, I appreciate your time and effort. But I just started work and I have quite a few other commitments as well. So getting a policy won't be my list now. I already have 2 by the way"
Then they will start to tell me all sorts of reason to invest my savings or increase my protection. But seriously, they don't care abt what i want.. they just care abt the money they can earn from me.
Starting to join our malay friends in fasting. So many things to pay for. Road tax, insurance, servicing... Can kill... but... why in the first place rite? suck thumb... And starting to learn more about taking good photos... Going to get a DSLR soon before i go travelling. Good shots to make good memories.

Quite a good show I feel. Although it looks almost the same like 881, the storyline is quite different.
881 is abit entertaining in the sense that a lot of things doesn't make sense. Like the Durian Sisters versus the Papaya Sisters, Qi yu wu walking around with that chicken and the Liu Ling ling's twin sister (aka Goddess of Getai).
12 lotus is more down to earth. It is actually about this gal who has her youth wasted because of men. Her father who abused her, her bf who cheated her and some random guy who came knocking at her door and again abusing her. The younger period was acted by Mindee ong while the middle age by Liu ling ling.
I just find it the link between Mindee Ong and Liu ling ling amusing. I was laughing at almost scene when Liu lingling was dancing or wearing some tight sleeveless costumes. I am not fat-cist.. or watever u call that... i just find it... amusing... To think almost everyone around me was weeping.. hahah.. I am some heartless chap. But Mindee Ong and Qi yu wu are good i feel... Nice looking and they acted well... I wonder why mindee ong didn't stay on with Mediacorp... She will make it big i think. I like her smile.
A random thought. Sometimes you will just get disappointed with people. I don't like the fact that when you are waiting for a reply, they don't reply. Perhaps I believe in being reliable or maybe responsible. Is it really that harD? 1st fundamental techniques in handling people: don't criticise, condemn or complain. okay.. I shall stop... Must preach what I read.
"Don't just get older, get better. Live realistically. Give Generously. Adapt willingly. Trust fearlessly. Rejoice daily"

Here it goes..
The kids nowadays
Frankly speaking, i think the kids nowadays are getting way smarter than the kids during my era.
Last time, when I was still a kid, i remembered I just followed where my parents brought me to. I didn't ask, i didn't grumble. I just followed. Sometimes, I didn't even know where I was. I simply just ran around and had fun while i was there.
The kids nowadays are good. Really good. They make sure they know the place they went. Just in case, they wanna come again. They even know where is the location.
My little cousin is amazing. She kept a namecard of the Hay Dairies she went with her sch a few weeks back. (Hay Dairies is a goat farm located at Lim chu Kang... that's what she told me) The namecard was in her little pink Dora wallet... I was quite shocked to see a namecard in the wallet of a 6 years old gal... So i asked her
Me: Why do you have this namecard in your wallet?
She: This is the goat farm i have been telling you. (She has been calling me everyday at 6 pm to chit chat with me... about her classmates, about her teachers (30 over of them) and the goat farm thing)
Me: Then why are you keeping it?
She: So that when i grow up, i can bring your children to the goat farm... Just like how you always bring me out... (FOr a moment, i was really touched..., Seriously... all these from a 6 years old kid.... but... wait... That must be how she is trying to get me to bring her there...hmmm)
Me: You get everything correct for your spelling first before i bring you there, okie? ANd your spelling is on Tues. So you better start studying for it.
SHe: STill got Monday wat.... Spelling onli... You need so long to study meh?
Me: zai zai.... OUtstanding la...
The next amazing thing she did....
She: Eh ah heng gor gor, do you know how to go??
Me: (Waah,.. trying to look down on me rite?) Of cos I know... ehh.... i got to check.... I can check it online.... You know... internet? I bet you don't know... (hoho... One pt scored)
She: You don't know rite? Let me show you....
There she goes... Her small figure disappeared into her stacks of Toys at one corner of the room... She ran back to me and showed me the latest version of Singapore street directory. Even the edition is newer than mine. Mine is the one I got when i first passed my driving test. 2003.
She: Come.. let me show you where is Hay dairies...
Me: (serious ah... I still remembered that i don't even know how to use the street directory when i first have it) Come.. show me...
She: (diligently flipping to that page where hay dairies is)
Me: (I chop my head if she can find it........)
she: Neh.......... here is it........ nor..... Here lo...
HAy dairies............. Lim chu kang...........
Me: Wah..... (lost for words) eh... How you find this page one?
She: I just flipped lo... very fast one...
She really went to flip page by page till she finds this little house symbol showing Hay Dairies.
I bet this was how she spent her September holiday at home.
The next thing i know... she flipped to another page showing the botanical garden, Singapore Zoo, Sentosa, Mount Faber, East cost park, Pasir Ris park.....
Effort la ... How can I bear to break her heart if I don't bring her there... Now i know why parents spoil their kids...
She is only 6 this year. I am amazed.

Looking around me, people have been getting into and out of relationships.
But one thing which I have realised is how people behave almost the same after they broke up. My personal thoughts though.
Realised whenever couples break up,
1) Either party tend to suddenly become very 'on' about things.
2) Either party like to show to people that they have moved on and living an even happier life.
3) EIther party like to suddenly change their dress sense and the way they behave.
4) Either party like to attribute all faults to the other party.
5) Either party like to put happy nick and post unbelievable happy blog entries when they just broke up.
In a nutshell, I think whenever people break up, self worth suddenly took a toll. And people desperately try to find back him/herself. That's what i feel.
Went online to search about "breaking up"
Found this at http://teenadvice.about.com/cs/breakingup/a/breakuphelper.htm. Kinda interesting while i was reading it. haha
1) Avoid the former love. Yes, avoid. No, this isn’t being immature. Seeing your former flame can bring out emotions and may cause you do to or say something you will regret. In the first few weeks the best thing you can do for yourself is not be where you know they will be.
2)Talk out your feelings with close friends. Get everything out so that you won’t hold it inside. Your friends may get sick of hearing you talk about the situation but you need to let out all your feelings and thoughts or they may come back to bite you later.
3)Cry if you want to. It’s OK to cry over a loss. Don’t hold back, let the tears roll just do it in a safe and private place where it is unlikely to get back to your ex. You don’t want your tears to be used as a guilt trip. Their purpose is to cleanse you of any pain not make your lover come back.
4)Let go of mementos. Put away or give away anything and everything that reminds you of the relationship. Hide them out of sight so they will be out of mind until you are able to remember the relationship without longing for it to still be going strong.
5)Don’t slip up and get together with your ex. When you are feeling sad or missing a relationship it can be very easy to fall back in to the arms of your ex but DO NOT DO THIS. This will only set you back and let’s face it, if things ended the relationship wasn’t perfect to begin with so why would you want to rekindle things?
6)Focus on all the things about your ex that drove you crazy, turned you off, or that you just plain found annoying. Think about these things often and replay them in your mind over and over. Dwell on them. It will make you feel better to remember that your former flame was not perfect and that there are things you won’t really miss.
7) Think about the mean, cruel or rude things your ex may have done in your relationship. Really give these things play in your memory. Remind yourself that somebody who truly cared for you would not have done such thoughtless things and tell yourself (over and over) that you are better off without that kind of ego crushing behavior in your life.
8) Maintain a strict no contact policy and stick with it. Don’t pass notes through friends. Don’t make any calls. Stay away from instant messaging or texting on your cell. Just don’t contact your ex until you are totally and completely sure you no longer want to be with him or her. It is the only way.
Looking back, i think I am really doing well. haha. I did msg her to ask how is she doing in life which means i am totally and completely sure that i no longer want to be with her. haha.
“It's scientifically confirmed that exercise improves your mood, and the distraction will help keep your mind off the situation. Go running outside, maybe with a friend, and think of releasing the anger or sadness with every step.” --->and now i know why I like running and gyming so much. And that reminds me of stand chart 42 km. For once, i regretted signing up. The run surely won't relieve me of the anger or sadness. It will only bring me pain. Physical pain. Blisters and sores.
anyway,
"Think of a breakup this way: you're one step closer to the one you're meant to be with"
Breaking up is the beginning of new transition in your life. It's easy to look at an experience in a negative way, but see it positively as a real chance for finding your Mr. or Ms. Right.
Good luck, peeps.
