A very nice quote worth sharing~
" Greatness comes not when things always go good for you; greatness comes when you're really tested, when you take some knocks, some disappointments, when sadness comes. Only if you've been in the deepest valley can you know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain. "
And I am damn shagged. Reached home at 1am, slept at 1.30am after taking my own sweet time to do my stuff and waking up at 4.45am! Because my company was invited to run at the Armour Road relay challenge and I was one of the 13 members in the team. Each member has to run 1.3km. I guess I already lost the fast twitching muscles from NS. Shall try to train up again. THe NSFs inspired me.
Ming(2) ge(1) Can(1) ting(1) is good too. The one at Marina Square. Ai Qing Hai. Went there once in 2003. 6 years ago, Can't believe it. Within these 6 years, so many things changed. The lcoation of the cafe. The people i went with. The stage in life i was in. Seems just like yesterday. 400 plus bucks ticket to Japan. Should I? hmmm..
Time for a nap for shopping. Levis is having a promo! Outstanding.

Weekend is drawing near again~
Days really fly when you are working... It's thurs already! So fast to the extent I don't feel i accomplish much during work. Too many things, too many distractions. Shall focus instead of dividing my attention to so many things.
Workplace is getting a little crazy as well. My team has this scorecard which tabulates scores for any outstanding things, damn funnie jokes, dares, truth you dare to do. Childish adults... But this is how you keep the workplace fun... We will add the scores up at the end of every month and the loser will have to treat tea break. My friend scored 10 pts on me.. he pasted this big turtle on my back without me knowing and managed to get me to help him pass something to another person on another level. Trust no one... at least till the end of the month.
And i have been going to work with my bro too cos he's posted to CMPB as a Temporary clerk. Helping the executives to make coffee, wiping the souvenoirs, packing the notebooks. The exchange for all these..... 3 months worth of staying out experience and a chance to be a RSAF pilot. He was actually selected to become a pilot trainee.... 3 months for him to clear his medical check up, aptitude test amd interview before he goes to Aust for his air grading. And if he doesn't make it through the selection, he will be most probably be posted back to OCs.... zai.... And I have been reaching office at 7 plus am because he has to report by 8... 2 hrs earlier than my usual timing... but it's good being early in office too... Our aim after work is to train for IPPT gold.... He to maintain his standard and me to get my first NS man ippt gold... 9.30min for 2.4km i shall try....
Been checking out on Master's programme... Planning to sign up for a part time masters course... ALways enjoy the learning process... Still remember during my uni years, i actually enjoyed going to sch... especially in the cool morning, so relaxing and peaceful and I just like the feeling of being value added. Embracing life long learning~

Staying positive
In this insane world, staying positive is the way to stay sane. Recession, conflicts etc.
And I am really sick of entertainment news. Naked pictures, divorces, breakups. Are they a reflection of what the society has become? and i hope the public doesn't follow suit with this trend in showbiz. Fame and glory often get the worst out of people. My perspective of showbiz. I love movies, songs and drama. I admire their singing and acting skills but i chose to ignore about what they do in their private life. Sometimes, when what you see doesn't go in parallel with what you thought it would be, it can be very disappointing.
Staying positive in my own little ways is how I cope with the depressing moments in everyday life. I love reading quotes from motivational website and I write the outstanding ones in my "motivation" notebook (*haha*) with the tot of passing it down to my kids next time.
And I look after my body very well, ignoring the fact that i just recovered from a very bad flu a few weeks back. I have learnt that to love someone else, one has to learn how to love him/herself first. I run twice per week, swim once per week, gym once per week and do my own static exercises everyday. And fruits after every meals is also a must. Even my friends at work are disgusted with my regime. On a random note, I most probably will be running for my company in the Armour formation road relay which i think we will get trashed by the regulars and NSFs. But exercising is really a good way to stay positive. THe hormonal stuff. Joining events is one of the way to stay motivated to exercise to stay positive. I have almost one running event every month. At least there's one way for me and my army buddies to stay connected and stay fit together. I always feel good when people at work asked me whether I just orded. Company outing this fri and I am going to bring my little cousin together because they having a kite flying session. So when i responded that I will be bringing a 7 year old kid, my female colleague replied me for the first time after so many confirmation emails last time, "WAH.. i didn't know what you have a kid already." So i decided to play along and replied, " yah..those were the heydays... didn't really tot of the consequences of my actions... anyway the mom is not coming because she is preparing for her exams."
Today is really a nice day to nua at home after sleeping in late... Reached home at 2 after a chilling out session at timbre Arthouse. Playing the stupid yet fun drinking games, chit chatting about life and getting to know each other better.
And so it's time alone... to rest and reflect... for a new week with a positive attitude to face new challenges.

Negativity: Don't Even Think of It
With practice, you can learn to recognize your repetitive and negative thoughts. And keep them from becoming all-consuming.
By: Kathleen McGowan
Life would be much easier if we had perfect control over our thinking—especially where emotions are concerned. We could quickly forget about the people who make us frustrated or angry and allow disappointments to fade into the past without recriminations.
But in reality, this kind of emotional equanimity is rare. Most of us spend a lot of time thinking over unpleasant feelings and mulling over regrets and resentments. Unfortunately, many of these mental interpretations of our feelings make us feel worse about the situation. What started out as a small hurt or frustration, amplified by a thought process that focuses on pain and anger, may balloon into a major preoccupation.
Our minds often repeat painful thoughts or scenarios over and over, even when we'd much rather let them go. If you start paying attention to your interior monologue, you may find that you are dwelling on the ways your parents let you down, angry at someone who has hurt you, afraid of the challenges you face in the future, or ashamed that you haven't yet done the things you'd planned to in life.
You'd rather stop all of these thoughts in their tracks—but that's much easier said than done. Instead, you're left feeling as if there's something wrong with you: Why can't I just get over it? Why can't I just relax and be happy?
Generally, when you try to squelch one of these distressing trains of thought—or "just get over it"—your strenuous efforts to suppress it only make things worse. Research has shown that if we actively try to prevent anxiety-provoking or frightening thoughts, they generally become more powerful and harder to ignore. As a result, mental "fix-it" strategies generally backfire, whether that's trying to deny your unhappiness, avoiding the situations or people that make you anxious, or drinking to numb the feelings.
Accepting the negative feelings and learning to distance yourself from the thoughts that amplify them can be a much more effective coping strategy, says psychologist Stephen Hayes of the University of Nevada in Reno. In his book Get out of Your Mind and Into Your Life, he outlines a number of techniques from cognitive psychology that can help you resist getting lost in painful thoughts. With practice, you can learn to recognize your repetitive thoughts, and hold them at arm's length.
A few of Hayes' suggestions:
Practice noticing your thoughts. Try to be conscious of where your mind leads you, and label the type of thought you're having to yourself. For example, if you've made a mistake at work and are feeling bad about it, think to yourself: "I've noticed that I'm focused on my error right now."
If you're feeling stupid about the mistake, say to yourself: "Right now, I'm criticizing myself."
If you find that one particular thought or phrase is running through your head—I'm a loser" or "She screwed me over," for example—try saying your troubling thought out loud, and either very slowly or in a funny voice. It seems silly, but by doing this, you're actively separating yourself from your mental soundtrack. You remind yourself that these thoughts are being generated out of a mental habit.
Try thinking of your mind as just another organ of your body. If you find yourself preoccupied by fears, imagine that your brain is just like your hungry stomach when it rumbles, or your feet when they're tired after a long day. Think: "There goes my mind again, worrying about something trivial."
Think of your self-destructive or self-critical thoughts as Internet pop-up ads. Don't criticize them or yourself for having them. Just think of them as unnecessary, meaningless noise.
All of these tactics are ways to become aware of your inner mental monologue without either getting caught up in it or trying to shut it down. Distancing yourself from your difficult thoughts can help you learn to stop turning small problems into dilemmas that seem all-consuming or hopeless.

八个钟头的睡眠
I did it! I finally had it... 8 hrs of uninteruppted sleep.. Shuang... This is wat you get when you take leave in the midweek... My brother's passing out parade. I bet he just finished his 24km route march while I am lazing around in bed... But I did my times too 7 years back... haha.. But he sure is fitter than me when i was in my BMT.
I remembered my first BMT 2.4 km run was 13.40 mins and my trainer told me that I set a record in my camp for being the slowest. I was the slowest in the company.. haha I walked most of the way.. what can you expect from a person who stands at 1.74m and weighs 80kg.. I even set a record for sit ups... i got 34! End of BMT, i managed to get 11 mins for 2.4km.
Then during my vocation training, I went for my own runs every night... Secretly training so that i can keep up with my buddies.. hahaa.. managed to get 9.30mins after that.. but still way off from my friends who also get around 9min or below that.. hahaa... I weighed 68kg then.. i remembered. Trained trained and trained even more... managed to Gold for once.. 9 mins i think.. and after that my timing hovers around 9.10-9.20 mins.. hahaha
I took nearly 1 years plus to get all these.. hahaa.. my bro took 2 months.. from IPPT fail.. to IPPT gold.. 13 mins to 9.30 mins... hmmm not bad... but i remembered he used to represent his sch in running in the national level.. hahaha..
Shall go for my swim now.... So fair now.. cannot take it.. I enjoy having leave!

The Bodyaches
My body is aching... from the 1.5km swim in the sea and the 10km run along ECP.
I wonder whether it was due to the kicks and punches I got during the sea swim. The whole demarcated lane was really crowded. If i swam freestyle (which i intended to), I couldn't see where I was going and could even end up at somewhere further due to the current. And freestyle exposesd my sides to the numerousl kicking by people who swam breaststroke. So ended up, I swam breaststroke as well. Took nearly 45 mins to jostle through the other swimmers and came out of the water. Usual timing to do that is 30 mins... cui ah...
THe run was relatively easier. But I couldn't really feel my legs after the swim. Perhaps that's a good thing. Didn't run exceptionally fast too. Guess it's around 50 mins for the 10 km.
Overall good experience and I shall train even harder next year. Just hope i don't get a very bad flu just 2 weeks before the race.
AFter the race, went home, shower, change up and to the KTV... 20 bucks for 6 hrs of KTV, 20 bucks for steamboat dinner and 10 bucks for some famous desert at Liang Seah. Woke up at 6, left home at 7... came home at 11, left home at 12... reached home at 1am... Shagged... and I shall just nua at home later.... but still have to go punggol to collect my race pack for next sun run... why did i sign up in the first place? but if i didn't sign up, my friends won't even join... okay la.. it's for their good and i shall join too to support them....
On leave next tues for my brother's passing out parade from BMT. SO proud of him. Ippt gold during BMT. Not easy man... running 9.20 min for 2.4 km. Used to laugh at him for being so nua... From now on, i won't even jio him for runs. But he was kinda disappointed for not being the platoon best. According to his commanders, he was one of the 2 contenders for it. Just too bad... Just hope he goes to OCS as what he wants. Shall pray for him.
And I shall now gather all my army stuff for Kiaboon who is doing a module on dun know what. My uniform, badges, beret.... I got to dig for them. Wont be easy after ORD-ed for 5 years.

Just my luck
Have the urge to start this post with a hokkien vulgarity... argh... shall refrain...Amitabha..

He better don't let me catch him next time. I make sure I will stuff it down his throat.... or whatever orifices I can find.
How on earth does this kind of person exist? Simply nothing to do....*breathe in.... breathe out*
On a random note, suspect X is good... I tot it's some typical jap show but it turned out to be a CSI by the Japs... Also got to know that this show was from the drama "Galileo".. and now i am catching it.... Slumdog millionaire ain't that bad either. But i still prefer suspect X...
And Biathlon this sat. Sure cui. Just recovered from flu since I came back from HK. Seriously under-trained... Just go for the experience ba.. heck the timing... but I look forward to the KTV after that... the last time i went was Sec sch... No way am i going to sing... Shall just watch them sing... I think I dance better than i sing...
