Happy Chinese New Year~

Food food and food... oozing with food...

Pineapples tarts, Cashew Nuts, Ba Kwa...= Pimples + 1 kg up in weight...

But it's a season of getting together to appreciate each other.

My Second company outing. THis time, it's at Zhou Kitchen in front of Ikea Alexandra... Dim Sum lunch~

I enjoy going company outing. Cos it's during company outing where you can talk to people you seldom talk to during work. Lunch time too... You ask one friend... friend ask another friend... another friend ask another friend.... end up 20 people going for lunch together... feels so heart warming to have so many people enjoying lunch together.

my 100th post!

The start of a new year... I mean lunar new year.

Was looking through the photos for the past 2 years which I have taken.. I realised life has been treating me quite well... The time for reflection... weight reflection? hahaa

Year 2004 Weight: 60-61 kg.

I looked like some starving Pows... Unbelievable...

Year 2007 Weight: 62 kg

I realised I looked so fair and untrained. What was I doing man.. hahaha.. I remembered I was searching for self identity after some hiccups in life... and ling was telling me that I looked better with some flesh... so I stopped running and swimming for a good 8 months..hoping that this will make me grow fat... what was i thinking,.. hahahaa... Cui ah..

Year 2008 Weight (Picture taken in Dec 2007, still qualify as 2008): 67kg

Simply cannot take the nua-ness anymore, i started to exercise again... Surprisingly, i grew heavier and bigger.. Who said exercising makes you thin... i Gained weighT! Feeling much more happier when I started my training regime again.

Year 2009 Weight: 68-69kg.

The peak ever since i left NS 5 years ago... My peak before NS was 80 kg... I was nothing but a pile of walking meat.

Trying to bring my running and swimming to a more competitive level, I joined a running club and started training hard... Marathons and biathlons... Again, eXercising doesn't make you lose weight.. It helps you gain more... on a random note, I lost 3 kg after running the stand chart marathon in dec 08. Just one day, i lost 3 kg... 42 km=3 kgs of water lost... Needless to say, i gained everything back within 2 weeks... hahahaa..

And maybe I should put more sun block during my swimming training. The numerous instances when I was being mistaken as some indians or malays...

Me happily putting the stuff at the counter in a Ma ma shop..

Indian Storekeeper: !#^**%$&%*# (Apparently he is trying to tell me how much it costs in Tamil)

Me: hUh? (looking at him with a very blur look)

Indian Storekeeper: !^&&*()*($#(& (Now he is trying to tell me how much it costs in MALAY)

Me: AH bang... I am Chinese la... Do I look like an Indian or malay?

Indian Storekeeper: (Now trying to tell me the price in hokkien, cantonese, teochew)

Me: (trying my best to keep my cool.. Heng i understood dialects) okay okay.. i know... it's 2.50..

Just a simple get stuff, pay stuff transaction can get into such a complicated circumstances...

I AM A CHINESE! for goodness saKe

Chinese New year Eve

The superstition of not having any loans being brought over to the new year is good... Got quite a lot of bad debts back.. haha..

Not to mention, I also try to settle mine... HP bills, credit cards bills (SHAGGED ah). Just follow the crowd la... Don't want to start the new year bad. But I still have my tuition fee loan.. and it's like 10 over times more than my monthly bills add together.

Even my dad wanted me to pump a full tank yesterday... so that the tank will always be full when the new year starts? just like what the older generation always do... a full rice bucket... signifies a wealthy and prosperous start.. but a full petrol tank? signifies wat?

Was back in NUS on fri for a seminar. Only 6 months since i graduated, i can't even remember the different floors in engin.. hahaa... CUi ah... Shall go to central lib next time... the lib full of my mugging memories.. haha.. I miss sch.

Okay. Time for dinner preparation... Happie chinese new year. A good start for a year full of nice surprises.

This day 7 years ago..

Today is my 7th enlistment anniversary.

23rd Jan 2002. The day when I shaved my head to serve my obligations... haha.. times flies and now it's 23rd Jan 2009.

Let's do the sums..

7 years...

2 years 4 months serving NS and got to know my buddies.
3 months slacking around after NS.
3 years 10 months getting my B.Eng(Mech)
1 months slacking around, job hunting and grad trip.
6 months working... again... serving the nation cos i am a public servant... public servant as in employee in a stat board.. public servant sounds so... "free frag" like open to everyone.. hahahaa

The milestones in life... Wat else remains? marriage.. kids.... *work running in parallel all the while* 30 more years of work... at least I don't dread taking the morning train to work...

Not again...

This is the first time i am dreading a holiday...

Seriously under-trained.

Seriously no-budget. (Thailand took most of my money)

Seriously need to do some savings.

Once this trip is over, I better start saving up.

Send me for more overseas work trips.. Let me earn the allowance!

Let me clear my tuition fee loan.. Let me be a free man once again..

Expect the unexpected

A firm believer of "expect the unexpected''.

ANything can happen even when you thought it's not possible. Yah shit happens and that's why there's the infamous murphy's law... Shit really happens.

It cracked. By someone I don't know. Is it me? How can I don't even know when I knocked against something? Or is it some a**hole whacked the lights and went off without leaving his/her contacts. THe mystery will remain unsolved.

And because of the crack, I assumed that the water seeped in. And because of that, the bulb burnt. And as a result, i drove around with only one side of the lights working, making myself a traffic safety violator. Outstanding. I am entitled to a swearing.. TA MA DE. $125..

But being an optimist, at least something is brand new. ANd i can now wash the car without having the fear that the whole wiring will short circuit.

What doesn't kill me, makes me poorer.

I tot i was good...

I tot i was good in shopping until I witnessed them live in action in Bkk.. I can run, i can swim.. but i can't shop long hours with them... it's the look around in shop A, go over to shop B and do a comparison, go over to shop C for another comparison, back to shop A again to try once more and see whether can bargain, then to shop B and do the same thing...then to shop C.... and it goes on.... I shudder in fear as i am typing these.

Okay I exaggerated. But they are good la! Good to the extent I have to take a timeout and go to some coffee place to get out of their way, otherwise i might even be trampled to death by themMy la Kopi buddy! hahaa... Can't imagine what will happen to me if he was not there

My Thailand buddy.. Apirat... Nice host!

The post i did 1 year 7 mths ago

The same post i did once again.

I simply cannot forget "her".. HOw can a He be such a beautiful She??

The parachute i used to jump with was green.. and now it's so colourful.. hahaa.. different colours actually makes u feel better...

Holiday always comes to an end.. THrown back to reality with more than 50 emails waiting for me in office and dozen of meetings to update... HK trip is onli a month away... but ... it means more money spent... and .... more shoppin? I really cannot shop....

sawadikup and a Happie new Year~

The year ended well with huiyu saying I don't look like my age and that i have a boyish look for someone of my age. hahahaa.. that's the first time in my life someone said i looked boyish. I am starting to fall into the old people league whereby any compliments on youth can be so delighting.

3 more hours to my flight. Can't really sleep last night. Wonder if I am too excited but it's not even my first time there.

Spent the last few hours of 2008 doing the last minute booking for the trip at my house in my room in front of the com with calvin and kiaboon. Analyzing with calvin on which insurance company can best cover us if the pro thaksin protestors decided to block off the airport again. Discussing with Kiaboon on whether we should do cycling in bangkok or go to the floating market which i also dun know where is it. And trying to tell vicki over the phone that we need her particulars to apply insurance and not for other motives.

It will be a nice trip. I just love THailand.

One week of nua-ness without running. I think i better go and have my last run before the trip. And i haven't even packed my stuff yet.
