Okay. I didn't tot of blogging about this in the first place. But since I NOW IN TUAS doing my 36 FYP simulations with each simulation taking around 5 mins and I am only at my 3rd one, so I think i have quite a bit of time.
Here it goes.
I forgot the exact date when I saw this ad on IVLE asking for people to join MPX4 to cambodia. I recalled that my friend used to tell me how fun her trip to Thailand was, so i decided to give it a try since I am already in my last year. I guess i won't have another opportunity to go for a similar one. Sad to say, I applied with my buddy Calvin but only me got in. I am sure they took me in because I used to be medic trained during Army. I still remembered some of the interview questions was "can you cook?", "how can you contribute?" etc. Surely everyone give the standard answers one rite? THere must be some hidden selection criteria which we don't know. haha. FOr the guys, maybe they choose all those sai gang calibre one. For gals, hmmmm. haha
Yah. I got in and we had our first meeting introducing each other and playing some cambodian games which we were told that the kids over there love it. And SERIOUSLY, they realli LOVE it. Everyday play also not sian. haha. And i was sabo-ed to be the log head because i was the oldest in the team. What's wrong with my age rite? haha. Guys mellow with age, remember? So I became the log head with 3 lucky members (Benghwa, Jiamin and Joanne) There were other committees like Fund raising, Programmes. Log team was the slackest. Nothing to do until nearing the departure date.
So after the 1st meeting and prior to departure, we have a few meetings once in a while to settle some admins and stuff. Even went to Ubin for a team bonding trip. Not a very nice trip because of the rain and no cycling cos some members dun know how to. SO basically, we just walked around. I think that outing kinda waste of time also. haha.
The months went by and we were all engrossed in our sch work. And frankly speaking, I tot of withdrawing from the trip cos of my FYP and I wasn't really in the right mood for quite some time. Luckily i endured. If not, i won't be able to meet all the nice people in the team and the cambodian friends.
As the departure day drew nearer, I wasn't really excited about the trip, considered I only finished packing my bag in the morning on the departure day. ARmy trained ley! On the actual day, as a responsible log head together with my log team and TR who sponsored his landspace for us to keep the 19 boxes, we have to bring down the boxes to the airport. But just too bad, not all 19 boxes made it to cambodia cos of weight limit, we only managed to bring like 10 boxes over. Kinda wasted cos the boxes we couldn't bring over was books and bags which the little kids can use. As rushed as we were due to the check in hassle, we made it up to the jetstar jet to cambodia. It's much better than Tiger Airways i swear. I took tiger airway to thailand with my army buddies and it was that bad until we were saying that we will jump out of the plane should we have parachutes.
The ride was kinda fast. We only took like less than 2 hrs to reach if i am not wrong. We reached in time for dinner at a quite lok kok kopitiam. Noodle, Rice, Porridge. Beef, Chicken and Pork. Whatever Combi u want... This tagline followed us through the 20 days we were there. Cambodia diet i suppose. It happened that Jiayan's birthday was on that day too. Not sure whether she feels sian, celebrating with erm.. 17 other strangers or 16 since Kiaboon is her jiemei.
After which, we checked in at Ang Kor Hotel for the night. Team bonding of cos, Charmaine, Vicki, Eugene, qR, TR and I went over to serxing's and alison's room to talk cock, watch soccer and played cards. And we concluded that QR sucks at games. So what if he is a dean lister? haha..
The next day..................................
THink i have written quite a lot le... THis shall be Post 1 on cambodia. I will start again when i have time again.
