Cambodia Dec 2007 Part 2

Okie. I just reached home from Guitar. Must brush up le. The gals can play better la. Sian.

Decided to take a 15 mins break. So I try to type as much as i can within this 15 mins. Anyway, i will not attempt to write about the trip in chronological order ah. As in.. i won't type it as in day 1, day 2, day 3..... Too much of work la. okie la. i will onli type DAy 1 and day 2. Life in village will not be narrated like that... ha

Here we go again.

After the late night at Ang kor hotel, we went to an even more lok kok place to have breakfast. Trust me! You wouldn't want to eat there. Not that i am pampered. But it was very dirty. Even I think it's dirty. So you can imagine how dirty it was la. It was a dark eating place with no proper ventilation, narrow walkways blocked by people sitting in front of the stores they are eating at, dirty floors which looked like Tar and ARMIES of mosquitoes and flies. Deep down in me, i was thinking.."Ho sei liao la... Charcoal pills 我只带两盒。。哪里够。。suck thumb liao lo.." Anyway, i got myself a plate of "mee tai ba"which tasted like Char Kway Tiao, and one iced Coffee. Nothing cambodian i feel. I survived the meal la. No lao sai!

So after the meal, we had to buy groceries for the cooking phase 1 team which included me. I truly understand the phrase..一只鸡一只鸭..新加坡的鸡and Cambodia的鸭。。Totally cannot make it. 用比的also cannot make it. Heng ah. We have our local host, Thearith, with us. He did all the talking and bargaining.

买完了，we went to get our lunch at "lucky burger". Cambodia's burger king. So so la. Nothing impressive. But considering it's like the only fast food over there, mai hiam la hor.

Finally, we were on the bus to the village, village KohKroBey. You pronounce it as "Kor Croc Bye. (If i am not wrong.) The ride was bumpy and the driver was F1 trained. Erm... actually most cambodian drivers are F1 trained. I think if i drive over there, i will surely crash. AFter after some bumping around and near misses from crashing, we made it to this nice place filled with nice, warm and friendly people whom we spent the next 2 weeks with. The most unforgettable 2 weeks of our life. (Okay... at least for me la... MY LIFE) hah

The moment we got down the bus, a lot of kids was already waiting around the house for our arrival. I was so surprised when some kids shouted out ," Rong... Pat...." THey still recognised the duo. I guess if i were Rong or Pat, i think i will be damn touched.

So ya... Got to do sai gang. House cleaning.... a House full of dust! TOok us like hours to sweep and mop the dust which i guess had accumulated since the last MPX3.

Night time falls. As proud as we were, Cooking phase 1 marched to the cooking area with sucked in gut akin to warriors in shiny armours marching into the arena to come out with CRISPY CHICKEN RICE! It was crispy because the rice was not cooked. THanks to Qr's ingenious way of cooking rice. Placing the pot of rice into another pot filled with water. Hoping that the steam will cook the rice in that pot. haha. I suggested just cook the pot of rice straight la... I tried it during army and it worked! But.... hai... haha... I tried but failed. Everyone had to eat it so as to show appreciation i guess. haha.. So funnie to see their faces. Obviously i knew the rice sucked. But they still ," Okie wat... not bad wat.... " Blatent Lying without blinking. hahaha..But We appreciated it la. Cos i was also guilty of blatant lying... like Char Kuay Tiao by cook phase 2... haha..

The night ended off with cards playing and some chit chatting session. Not much playing with the kids though. Guess everyone still shy.
