Japan Trip Part 1 Day 1

Decided to split the jap trip into 2 parts... Part 1 on Osaka... Part 2 on Tokyo..

Basically our itinerary was from 25th Apr to 4th May.

25th Apr (PM)- Tokyo

26th-30th Apr- Osaka

1st May- 4th May(AM)- Tokyo

Our flight was the 6am morning flight from Changi Airport to Narita airport which means we had to reach there at 4am to check in. Slept at 1 and woke up at 3 was no joke. I was feeling very grouchy. To make things worse, our seats were those smacked in the centre of the centre rows. Not much space to manoveure and we had to ask the stranger sitting next to the aisle to stand up so that we can go to the toilet. 7hrs of flight. Can't really sleep well. Ended up we chit chatted almost throughout the flight.

Once we touched down at around 3pm, the language barrier set in. We tried so hard to ask for direction to get to the train to get us to our hotel. Luckily, I saw the booth picture online when i was planning in Singapore. THat really helps. Nevertheless, We saw a ice cream vending machine. You can imagine 2 tourists standing next to the pillar with their luggage beside them, trying to gobble down the ice cream so that they can make it for their next train ride. The start of the buy-and-eat-anything trip.

By the time we reached Asakusa. it was already 5 plus pm. So suay... it was raining. Rain, wind and the spring weather(around 9 deg) combined was really no joke, at least for me. I was just wearing a pair of jeans, a polo T and my jacket. I was literally shaking and I tot i really got to buy another jacket. But at least drey was kind enough to lend me her extra jacket. When a man is desperate, he takes anything. I wore it..... no more pride. I think I nearly tore her jacket while trying to fit in. The next thing i knew, I was having restricted blood flow to my arms.

Like what the saying goes, bad stuff never come alone. We got lost. Apparently, there's 2 hotel sharing the First name which we didn't know. Everyone pointed us to different directions. Wasted 2-3 hrs trying to find our way in the rain... battling the cold. But at least I parked drey, together with our luggage, at some warm dry convenience store while I went to scout for the hotel. Guess this was what I was trained for during army. Just that this time round, it's urban setting. And i managed to find the hotel before walking back the path to claim drey back.

We made it to the hotel with my shoes entirely soaked with water and our jackets wet. Our purchase other than the ice cream... umbrellas... And luckliy the rain ended after we changed up. And the night ended with us walking around the neighbourhood and having dinner at their fast food outlet... Japanese food... You buy the ramen tickets from their vending machine and you pass the ticket to the kitchen stuff. They will then prepare the food for u. It was a very satisfying hot meal in the cold weather before we made our way to the supermarket to do some shopping for breakfast. A supposedly good day 1..
